Route: (Bus from Arusha, Tanzania through Nairobi to) Kampala – Lake Bunyoni – Kapala – Nairobi
Total number of days - 8
**See below for breakdown
Budget:
Overall Average: $20/day
Interesting Expenditures: Barclay’s charged us a $30 ATM fee to use our debit card! It’s a Mastercard only fee. We have not had a problem anywhere else, but if you’re coming to Uganda, it may be worth finding a VISA debit card.
Food and Drink: We found more foreign-oriented places here (hostels, etc), so we scored some Mexican food finally. Other than that, food did not disappoint. Similar to Tanzanian food, but at a cheaper cost.
Must Eats: Bell Beer rivals Tusker. Tres delish.
Highlights: Boonya Amagara is a very eco-friendly site powered entirely by solar energy. They have high-speed internet access and composting toilets, side-by-side. We stayed in a cool little cabin with a great view of the lake, a little porch, and our own outdoor shower. Though those with fears of arachnids should mentally prepare yourself…
Best Deal: 75 cent beers and 30 cent guacamole at Boonya Amagara on Lake Bunyoni (www.susnow.org), 60 cents to see “The Departed”
