Going Good
I didn’t know it going in, but November 29th was my last doctor’s appointment. My orthopaedic surgeon suprised me by saying not only that my xrays were excellent but that he’d give his blessing for me to start walking and to take back off on the grand trip!
It’s not going to be easy… The last ten days I’ve been learning how to walk again, and I’ve never been so sore in my life. My achilles heel is unbelievable sore all the time, and I’ve never done more squats and lunges in my life.
I’ll have to wear a knee brace for at least two more months, only wheel my bag around (not carry it) and do PT exercises on the road, but I’m definitely heading out to India in January.
Maybe Going…
The second most awesome news: I got into NYU Law School! I have fond memories of my alma mater (although they supposedly don’t like their alums that much and its hard for us to get in to the law school), and the best news ever: Worse case scenario and I don’t get in anywhere else — I’m coming back to NYC when this is over!
Almost Gone
I leave next Tuesday to meet up with Lauren and her family in Hawaii and from there, we’ll skip to Thailand for New Years before heading to meet up with Thomas and Kalpana in India. So hopefully my next blog will be from the road!
(Yes, I did just have four exclamation points in one blog. My apologies. I promise better prose next time.)

Beth,
I haven’t heard from you, so I checked back in to see how things were going. I couldn’t be happier for you. Such a mix of feelings and so much going on. I would so welcome a phone call from you. Thought I would post here knowing you would receive the message.
P.S. Inspired by all you’re doing, I may be planning a trip to Viet Nam and surrounding areas in the early Fall, but NO mopeds for me!!
Beth, I wish you much good happiness, health and all that you wish for yourself in the new year. It sounds like it will be a good one for you. So glad you can join Lauren on the road again. Take it slow.

oops, meant to say “wish you much good health as the first priority…meaning that I hope your leg heals, happiness, etc……on the other post…..not the seemingly strange expression “good happiness”
